Our review article entitled “Photoluminescent and biodegradable porous silicon nanoparticles for biomedical imaging” has been accepted in Journal of Materials Chemistry B. This work is a part of collaboration with Prof. Woosung Kwon’s lab at Sookmyung Women’s University. The review article comprehensively summarizes the latest studies on bioimaging application of luminescent silicon nanoparticles, and provides perspectives of porous silicon nanoparticles for translational medical platform.

This review article is featured in the themed collection of Emerging Investigators highlighting 2019’s rising stars of materials chemistry research. Prof. Joo was recommended by experts in the field as carrying out work with the potential to influence future directions in materials chemistry.
